5.2 g/t Au with 0.026% U3O8: Dawson Road Property
A gold discovery 50 km west of Thunder Bay, Ontario on the Dawson Road Property also hosts uranium mineralization, up to 0.026% U3O8 from leached surface rock. Gold/uranium mineralization appears to be associated with a 2-km long VLF-EM anomaly coincident with the Timiskaming/Keewatin volcanic contact. The outcrops also contain hematite and appear to have an IOCG affinity. Mineralization on the Dawson Road Property may be structurally-controlled by a local series of maar diatremes, which are globally important for gold and uranium.
Backhoe trenching and sampling of the “Hot Zone” in 2005 reveals mineralization hosted in a volcanic breccia over a surface width of 5-7 meters; topography drops off towards the untested EM conductor.
